Nikita Khrushchev (1894-1971) was a prominent Soviet politician who played a
significant role in the leadership of the Soviet Union during the mid-20th century.
He held several important positions in the Soviet government and Communist Party,
including serving as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union
from 1953 to 1964. After the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953, Khrushchev led a process
of "destalinization," denouncing many of Stalin's excesses and purges. This period
marked a relaxation of some of the oppressive policies that had characterized Stalin's
rule.
Khrushchev played a central role in the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, a
tense standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union over the placement
of nuclear missiles in Cuba. The crisis brought the world to the brink of nuclear
war but was ultimately resolved diplomatically. In 1956, Khrushchev delivered a
closed-door speech to the 20th Party Congress in which he criticized Stalin's policies
and personality cult. This speech, known as the "Secret Speech," marked a turning
point in Soviet history and led to the process of destalinization.
Khrushchev presided over the early years of the Space Race, during which the
Soviet Union achieved several significant milestones, including launching the first
artificial satellite, Sputnik, in 1957, and sending the first human, Yuri Gagarin,
into space in 1961. Khrushchev initiated a program to increase agricultural production
in the Soviet Union, including the "Virgin Lands" campaign, which aimed to cultivate
previously unused land. However, these efforts often faced problems and ultimately
fell short of their goals.
Khrushchev's leadership style was marked by a more relaxed and populist approach
compared to his predecessors. However, his erratic behavior and policies often led
to mixed results and contributed to his removal from power in 1964. He was succeeded
by Leonid Brezhnev. Khrushchev's legacy remains a subject of historical debate,
but his leadership marked a significant period of change and transition in the Soviet
Union.

AI Technical Trustability Update
While working on an update to my
RF Cafe Espresso Engineering Workbook project to add a couple calculators about
FM sidebands (available soon). The good news is that AI provided excellent VBA code
to generate a set of Bessel function
plots. The bad news is when I asked for a
table
showing at which modulation indices sidebands 0 (carrier) through 5 vanish,
none of the agents got it right. Some were really bad. The AI agents typically explain
their reason and method correctly, then go on to produces bad results. Even after
pointing out errors, subsequent results are still wrong. I do a lot of AI work
and see this often, even with subscribing to professional versions. I ultimately
generated the table myself. There is going to be a lot of inaccurate information
out there based on unverified AI queries, so beware.
