The International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2023,
the RF, microwave, and wireless industry's premier trade show, is happening this week
in San Diego, California. It runs from Sunday, June 11th, through Friday, June 16th
at the San Diego Convention Center.
Many of RF Cafe's generous sponsors have display booths set up on the
Exhibit
Floor. Their locations are labeled on the layout shown above. Clicking on the image
will open a much larger version with legible print. While you are roaming,
cruising, and perusing,
please be sure to stop by and say hello to them and thank them for supporting RF
Cafe. The matrix of company thumbnails on the left side represent all that are currently
on RF Cafe, though some are not attending the show. BTW, be sure to see the
Historical Exhibit for some amazing
bits of our industry's development.
From their website:
"Welcome to IMS2023 in sunny San Diego. It is the first time since 1994 that
IMS has been held in San Diego, and we aim to make IMS2023 a show to remember. We
are planning a live, in-person conference with an exciting technical program, with
the Coolest Ideas under the Sun, and great networking opportunities for attendees
and exhibitors, to re-establish old connections and make new ones.
At IMS2023 we will have several focus themes to highlight a number of areas of
RF and microwave engineering that are of topical interest or impact. These themes
are:
Systems & Applications, Wireless Communications, 6G developments, Wi-Fi,
RF and microwave system-on-chip integration, massive MIMO systems and subsystems,
Wireless Power Transfer; Automotive Systems; Model-Based Systems Engineering, Space,
CubeSats, Biomedical Applications, and more.
These technical themes will be identified with different days of the conference,
to form a Systems Forum, and will comprise special Focused Technical Paper Sessions,
Panel Sessions, Invited Speakers, and Workshops. The Exhibition will feature a Systems
Pavilion illustrating several practical examples of RF through THz systems and applications.
We are encouraging more participation from industry, as attendees, as exhibitors,
and as presenters of technical papers and workshops. We will continue the Industry
Showcase, which is a reception where presenters from industry can present a poster
to highlight their work and their company. There are also contests for best industrial
paper, and best advanced practice paper, with the top three ranked papers awarded
a full-page ad in IEEE Microwave Magazine or Microwave Journal. And new this year
we have the 'Early Career' best paper competition for authors with less than ten
years' professional experience, to encourage our young engineers. Of course, we
have a full menu of student events, including design competitions, best paper awards,
and social events, and continue to welcome our academic participants.
IMS is co-located with the RFIC Symposium, and the ARFTG microwave measurement
Conference, and in 2023 we are also co-locating with the IEEE Women in Engineering
International Leadership Conference at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel, IMS2023 conference
headquarters."
Time and [mostly] money prevent me from attending
most of the IMS shows unless they happen to be close enough to drive to and back
in the same day. So far that has been the
IMS2009 show
in Boston and the
IMS2011 show
in Baltimore. Maybe if Washington D.C. isn't under marshal law next year
Melanie and I will be able to make it.
everythingRF is providing live coverage of
events at the IEEE's IMS2023 show in San Diego, from June 11th to 16th. The
symposium will be conducting a technical conference along with a 3-day
exhibition that includes 400+ exhibitors from around the world, showcasing their
products and services. IMS is the flagship event in a week dedicated to all
things microwaves and RF. The week also includes the IEEE MTT-S Radio Frequency
Integrated Circuits Symposium (RFIC) and the Automatic Radio Frequency
Techniques Group (ARFTG). IMS will hold a competition of the 50 top-ranked
papers, as determined by the Technical Paper Review Committee (TPRC), that will
be invited to submit their paper to the IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components
Letters (MWCL) for publication. A
floor plan of the Exhibit Hall is available here.
