As long-time RF Cafe visitors are aware,
my series of RF Cascade Workbook™ spreadsheets, based in Microsoft Excel, has been
around since 2002. The latest and greatest version, packed with features for creating
and analyzing RF transmitter and receiver component chains, is called
RF Cascade Workbook™ version L
(I stopped using year versions long ago). It exploits the power of Visual Basic
for Applications (VBA) to perform tasks you have likely never seen in an Excel spreadsheet.
** IMPORTANT **
In order for Wireless System Workbook™ to run, the "runtime-files" folder (included
in the downloaded ZIP file) MUST be located in the same folder as the XLSM
spreadsheet file. That is the configuration of the ZIP file, so just unzip it and
you're good to go. Do NOT put the LXSM file in the "runtime-files" folder.
You MUST also enable macros, so the the VBA code can run. There is no
nefarious code buried within the VBA.
RF Cascade Workbook™ 2005 was the first time I began using VBA code to handle
equations and special tasks. RF Cascade Workbook™ 2008 brought, along with
other new capabilities, a major change where the components are arranged horizontally
across the page, rather than being stacked vertically. It provided a more natural
left-to-right flow, along with graphs situated at the top of the page whose data
points aligned with the stage outputs.
Occasionally, I receive a request to make the RF Cascade Workbook™ 2005
vertical layout an alternative to the horizontal layout. Reformatting the entire
workbook would be a lot of work, so rather than doing that and charging the standard
purchase price for it, I decided to instead release it under a new name, "Wireless
System Workbook™," and make it available at no cost - compliments of RF Cafe advertisers
and me. The only "price" you pay is having a small, persistent floating window (which
can be relocated, but not closed) in view with hyperlinked thumbnail logos of my
supporters. Since Wireless System Workbook also uses VBA code, you will need to
OK the macros to run.
Since Wireless System Workbook™ is essentially RF Cascade Workbook™ 2005,
the User
Guide for RF Cascade Workbook™ 2005 fully applies.
You're welcome.
