Synzen Precision Technology will be showcasing
their new range of miniature FPC antennas at this year's Embedded World trade fair
in Germany. The six ultra-compact flexible antennas which make up
Synzen's Constellation
Class of antennas feature novel and elegant design solutions that maintain superior
performance, even in very small IoT devices. These antennas are perfect for asset
tracking, OBDII, smart home, smart city, ISM, and wearables. Not only do they take
up minimal space in modules, the antennas also display excellent coexistence, which
means that you can easily integrate more than one antenna into your device. Furthermore,
careful development of the range has ensured the best isolation with no out-of-band
spurious resonances. Synzen's Technical Director, Chris Tomlin said: "Usually, smaller
IoT devices cannot use off-the-shelf FPC antennas because of lack of clearance and/or
space. So, we made a more practical range of antennas which enables quick integration
without the need for expensive and time-consuming custom designs...
Sam Benzacar of Anatech Electronics, an
RF and microwave filter company, has published his May 2022 newsletter that features
his short op-ed entitled "The Very Real Vulnerabilities
of GPS," where he discusses the inherent vulnerabilities of using the satellite-based
system as a primary Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) reference. The Achilles'
Heel is how easily the signal can be overwhelmed and/or spoofed with local transmitters.
Alternative technologies are being researched and developed, including highly accurate
and robust inertial references, but to date none are as precise as GPS. In time,
though, a solution will be found. Necessity is the mother of invention, as the saying
goes. Also mentioned are private networks on the upswing, the fast-growing phased-array
radar market, Starlink no longer being alone, and Dish and Space X duking it
out...

Axiom Test Equipment, an electronic test
equipment rental and sales company has published a new blog post entitled "Semiconductor
Measurements Characterize Devices and Materials" that informs people on how
semiconductor testing can be conducted. Semiconductors are essential to modern electronics
and can be found in almost all electrical products throughout many industries. They
come in many forms, with diodes, optocouplers, rectifiers, and transistors among
discrete devices. Because semiconductor testing covers such a variety of devices
under test (DUTs), it involves many different measurements and, depending on the
DUT, often many different test units to perform the measurements. Gaining a better
understanding of a semiconductor or the material it is fabricated on requires evaluating
it under different operating conditions, such as different voltage (V), current
(I), and power levels. In some cases, testing...

Copper Mountain Technologies'
S5180B 2-Port 18 GHz Compact VNA will serve as an enhanced version of its
predecessor, the S5180 Compact VNA. S5180B is the first CMT VNA with built-in Pulse
Modulation Generation/Measurement capabilities which will expand measurement proficiency
for the development, manufacturing, and testing of high-power amplifiers. The Pulse
Modulation feature is a paid software option sold separately from the VNA and is
only compatible with the S5180B VNA due to hardware requirements. The Pulse Modulation
option can be added at any time during or after the initial VNA purchase. Pulse
modulated measurements are useful for high power amplifier development, manufacturing,
and testing, especially on-wafer components where a heat sync isn't practical. 5180B
has built-in hardware to support various types of pulse measurements when used with
the Pulse Modulation software option. Pulses can be generated...
