Promoting STEM Through Volunteerism and Contests - RF CafeIEEE senior member Michael R. Andrews originated the STEM Competition (science, technology, engineering, and math) for middle school students in order to promote those disciplines at a time when planning for high school and career paths really gets started. In this article, he recommends a show-and-tell type presentation to appeal to the shock and awe motivational factor of seeing cool concepts demonstrated and explained in terms understandable by students.
