COTS Design - Tested
Tough to Mil Standard 810
October 3, 2017
SKU 2126 was mounted in the test fixture undergoing 40g shock testing
while operating uninterrupted at full rated output power. The Amplifier system was tested
for MIL-STD-810E Method 514.4 vibration 40 g Peak while operational for 270 minutes in
each axis. The unit also passed Shock – MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5, 3 Axes, Quantity 18 pulses
per direction 11 mSec Sawtooth Pulse / 40g Peak.
Keep in mind this is not a custom design. This is our COTS model with a dust filter added.

A Peek Inside
Our COTS amplifier architecture includes advances in RF and digital PCB signal routing
that allows us to eliminate virtually every internal connector, RF cable and electrical harness.
This makes the amplifier fundamentally rugged, reliable, improves RF efficiency and is available
on all of Empower Next Generation systems.
Empower RF Systems is the technological leader in smart power amplifier solutions for EMC,
Radar, EW, Threat Simulation, Communications, and Product Test. Incorporating the latest semiconductor
and power combining technologies with a patented architecture, we build the most sophisticated
and flexible COTS system amplifiers in the world. Solutions range from tens of watts
to multi-Kilowatt and include basic PA modules to intelligent scalable rack systems with AGC
and ALC output modes. In addition to best-in-class SWaP, our Next Generation amplifiers have
sophisticated RF detection to maximize efficiency for a variety of modulation schemes including
QAM-xx, OFDM, Multi-tone, Pulse, AM, FM, and more.
RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
