What is a good cheap mobile wireless transceiver? - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hey all,

I am new to this forum. I am an Electrical Engineering student at UMass Amherst. I was just wondering what would be a sufficient mobile wireless transceivers, which would be used in a car. I was thinking WiMax would work or 802.11g/n.

Specifications:

Moderate Range: 200m
Low Cost: under $200
Data rate ~ 1Mb/s
Mobile: yes
Freq: 2.4GHz to 5GHz
packaging: DIP Style

If anyone has any suggestion, please feel free to respond.

Thanks,
