Hi!
"MTBF" doesn't mean the same thing to everyone. The
military has a formula, and some - maybe most - component manufacturers
have their own formulas and data. Your first choice is to get failure
data from the manufacturer, along with how they figure it. (You just
can't wait for 100,000 hours for a life test - that's 12.5 years!)
Your second choice is the use of handbook formulas. That is definitely
a far second.
