NuWaves Engineering Introduces Linear Bidirectional S-Band Radio Frequency Amplifier Module for OFDM Transceivers
Middletown, Ohio, May 5, 2015 – NuWaves Engineering, an international Radio Frequency (RF) and Microwave solutions
provider, today announced a new linear bidirectional amplifier (BDA) for OFDM radios at the Association for Unmanned
Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Unmanned Systems 2015 Trade Show. The
NuPower Xtender™ 12E06A
model is a broadband, small, lightweight and cost-effective solution for high-performance S-band Orthogonal Frequency
Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transceivers with Mobile Ad hoc Networking (MANET) and/or Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output
(MIMO) technology.
The Xtender 12E06A bidirectional amplifier operates across the 1980 to 2500 MHz range and generates 12 Watts
of RF power for QPSK modulated signals, 6.3 Watts for 16QAM, and 2.5 Watts for 64QAM. With 25 dB of RF transmit
gain and 12 dB of receive gain, the Xtender 12E06A bidirectional amplifier is designed to operate seamlessly with
several commercially-available OFDM transceivers. Further, at 4.00" x 2.00" x 0.65", the bidirectional amplifier's
ruggedized aluminum chassis is compact , and light enough for integration into a wide variety of small aerial,
sea and ground-based platforms, including Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS).
"The Xtender 12E06A is a high-performance, robust solution to extend the range of S-band OFDM radios, which
are increasingly popular in military and government applications," said Ryan Canning, Director of Business Development
for NuWaves Engineering. "We're building on a successful track record of developing and fielding miniature RF
power amplifiers for the most demanding customers in the world."
