GreenPeak Selected as 2009 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer
04 December, 2008 - Utrecht - The Netherlands – The
World Economic Forum today announced GreenPeak Technologies is being
recognized as one of the Technology Pioneers for 2009. GreenPeak is
a fabless semiconductor company offering innovative ultra low power
wireless and battery-free data communication technology for sense and
control applications that can be powered by the use of energy harvesting
from the environment.
The World Economic Forum has selected 34
visionary companies as Technology Pioneers 2009 for their accomplishments
as innovators of the highest caliber, and whose technologies will have
a deep impact on business and society. The selection of these companies
is the result of a vigorous selection process, for which the Forum received
more than 320 applications from around the world that were evaluated
by 44 global technology experts. Technology Pioneers are companies that
have been identified as developing and applying highly transformational
and innovative technologies in the areas of energy, biotechnology and
health, and information technology. To be selected as a Technology Pioneer,
a company must be involved in the development of life-changing technology
innovation and have the potential for long-term impact on business and
society. In addition, it must demonstrate visionary leadership, show
all the signs of being a long-standing market leader and its technology
must be proven.
GreenPeak delivers highly reliable and standards
compliant wireless and green (battery-free) communication technology
for ultra low power sense and control networks. GreenPeak's mesh networks
can be powered by the use of energy harvesting devices without compromising
performance, range, data rate or reliability. These energy harvesting
powered networks greatly reduce the difficulties and cost of maintaining
wireless sensor networks.
“It is an honor and a privilege to
be selected as Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum” says
Cees Links, CEO of GreenPeak, “This recognition validates our vision
of a greener and connected world. GreenPeak’s technology will change
the world because our technology will enable people to control the safety,
security and comfort of their environment, while preserving energy and
at the same time eliminating the need for using batteries.”
The
entire list of Technology Pioneers, with their profiles and interviews
with the executives of the selected companies, can be found at:

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
