generating & measuring a pulsed signal - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Hi,
I would like to generate Pulsed signal with Duty Cycle from 0.1 %- 30%; Pulse repition Itervall(PRI) from 10usec-100msec; On to Off rejection 70dB min; Rise/fall time 20 ns max.
I know that a normal Vector Signal cannot perform it rather through its Arbritrary Inputs, so we have to do it in MATLAB/LabView etc.

How can I make sure that I see it on a Spectrum Analyzer at zero span?
Do I have to switch to a scope with high sampling rate capabilities?

Thanks
y3G

Zero span is easy. Just set your start and stop freqs to the same thing and voila you have zero span. If you have an O-scope, then you don't have to use zero span.

Good luck on the other issues
