I need some help please - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

I am currently in a physics Ph.D. graduate program deciding what to do with my life. I have an oppurtunity to do research and get a Ph.D. in RF design in the engineering department. Would a Ph.D. be any more benficial than a Masters for finding jobs in industry? However outsourcing is scaring me very much. I am also rethinking this career path and just becoming a dentist.

Hello SmileyGuy,

Education is a great asset, but it is even greater when combined with industrial experience. If you have a chance to be involved in a research project within a company, this would help you improve your career.

If you are armed with Ph.D and some industrial experience then the sky is really the limit for you. I am sure there are plenty of opportunities for you to pursue some internship or do your dissertation/research sponsored by a company.

Don't consider to become a dentist, maybe the salary is higher, but taking out teeth all day long, oh well...
