January 14, 2013 Press Release
-- Phase Lock Loop Synthesizer: PCA0495B-LF Features Compact Packaging
Z-Communications,
Inc. announces a new RoHS compliant
Phase Lock Loop Synthesizer
model PCA0495B-LF for satellite modem equipment. The PCA0495B-LF is a low powered frequency
synthesizer that operates from 470 to 520 MHz with a 100 kHz step size in a package measuring
only 0.50 in. x 0.50 in. x 0.13 in. This miniature PLL provides phase noise of -97 dBc/Hz @
10 kHz offset and can be quickly and easily programmed through a 3-wire serial interface.

The PCA0495B-LF is designed to deliver a typical output power of 4 dBm into a 50 Ω load
while operating off a single supply voltage of 3.3 Vdc and typically only consuming 25 mA of
current. This high performance PLL spurious and 2nd harmonic suppression is -65 and -10 dBc,
respectively, and is designed to operate over the industrial temperature of -40 to 85ºC. The
PCA0495B-LF is available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements making it ideal
for automated surface mount assembly and reflow. The PCA0495B-LF is also well suited for land
mobile radios or any other UHF application.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
