RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while typing up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...

Z-Comm Introduces SMV5320A-LF C-Band VCO

Z-Communications, Inc. announces a new RoHS compliant VCO (Voltage-Controlled Z-Comm SMV5320A-LF phase noiseOscillator) model SMV5320A-LF in C-band. The SMV5320A-LF operates at 5245-5395 MHz with a tuning voltage range of 1-4 Vdc. This VCO features a typical phase noise of -81 dBc/Hz @ 10 KHz offset and a typical tuning sensitivity of 170 MHz/V.

Z-Comm SMV5320A-LF packageThe SMV5320A-LF is designed to deliver a typical output power of 0 dBm at 5 Vdc supply while drawing 27 mA (typical) over the temperature range of -40º to 85º C. This VCO features typical second harmonic suppression of -20 dBc and comes in Z-Comm's standard SUB-L package measuring 0.3 in. x 0.3 in. x 0.08 in. It is available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements. The SMV5320A-LF is also ideal for automated surface mount assembly and reflow.
