Kibble to Receive 2009 IEEE Joseph F. Keithley Award
for Contributions to Fundamental Electrical Metrology

Cleveland, Ohio - April 13, 2009 - The IEEE has named Bryan Peter Kibble as the recipient of the 2009 IEEE Joseph F. Keithley Award in Instrumentation and Measurement. Dr. Kibble, who worked at the Division of Electrical Science at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington, Middlesex, United Kingdom, prior to his retirement, is being recognized for his work in pioneering experiments and techniques in the field of fundamental electrical metrology, which led to the realization of the International System of Units (SI).

The award will be presented on May 6, 2009 at the IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), which will be held May 5-7, 2009 in Singapore at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. The award, sponsored by Keithley Instruments, Inc. (NYSE:KEI) in memory of the company's founder, is presented for outstanding contributions in the field of electrical measurement. It consists of a bronze medal, a certificate, and an honorarium.

Criteria considered by the award's IEEE Evaluation Committee include innovation or development, social value, uniqueness of concept, other technical accomplishments, and the quality of the nomination. The award is administered through the Technical Field Awards Council of the IEEE Awards Board and is independent of Keithley Instruments.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
