Nextek Launches Coaxial Wide Band 2.4 GHz to 6 GHz
Lightning Protection for Wi-Fi/WiMAX

Optimized for 802.11 / UNII / ISM applications

Compact with minimal VSWR and insertion loss

Ruggedized, weatherproof 60kA bi-directional transient surge protection

Westford, MA, October 24, 2006 - - NexTek, Inc., a leading designer of best-in-class lightning protection and EMC / power conditioning products and services, announces the development of a new line of SurgeGuard™ quarter wave stub lightning protectors. Designed specifically for Wi-Fi and WiMAX applications, the QSS 400 series exceeds 802.11, UNII, ISM and MIL-STD-202 standards. OEMs have begun installing the QSS 400 series in wireless applications that operate in frequencies ranging from 2.4 GHz to 6 GHz.

The QSS 400 series is extremely compact, measuring only 62.2 mm (2.45”) X 32 mm (1.26”) diameter (with N connectors). It features best-in-class performance specifications including bi-directional protection, low VSWR (1.05 typical), normal and reverse polarity, high RF power and ultra-low let-through. Using robust materials of construction the maintenance free QSS 400 series is ruggedized, weatherproof to IP68 standards, and can withstand multiple strikes as well as very high transients up to 60kApk.

The QSS 400 SurgeGuard™ series of lightning arrestors is available in various coaxial connector and gender configurations, and is value-priced at $40 in OEM quantities. For more information or a datasheet with complete product specifications, visit www.nexteklightning.com.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
