In the EMC & Wireless Connectivity lab, you will contribute to the Internet-Of-Things strategy of Philips Lighting, e.g. by co-creating the next generation of the Philips HUE lamps. You will support multiple departments of Philips Lighting to efficiently test and design the wireless connectivity part of their products and systems.
Location: Eindhoven, Netherlands
Job type: Full-time, in-house role
Years of experience: 3 years minimum
Education: Bachelor, minimum
Your Responsibilities
Facilitate antenna and RF module integration into products
Measure the performance/robustness of wireless links of a product or in a system, e.g. for ZigBee, Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, GPS, GPRS and future low power, low data rate links. This takes multipath, propagation properties of different application environments, and concurrent RF sources into account. Provide expert knowledge in this area to product design teams and apply problem solving (technical consultancy).
Design antennas that are suited for special application requirements, using 3D electromagnetic simulation and/or an prototype based, iterative approach
Create efficient RF test strategies; design, verify and standardize test set-ups
Provide expert knowledge and apply problem solving on compliance according to the Radio Equipment Directive (RED/R&TTE, e.g. EN300328)
Implement new and maintain existing RF and EMC compliance tests in our ISO17025 accredited test lab, taking into account all quality and efficiency requirements
Solve problems and derive design guidelines in the area of intra-product or intrasystem EMI, thus where internal EMI sources disturb the RF link
Pro-actively align with businesses and co-create RF strategy

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas
and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer.
The Internet was still largely an unknown entity at the time and not much was available
in the form of WYSIWYG
