Empower RF Systems, Inc., a leading provider of high-power ultra-broadband radio frequency (RF) amplifier solutions
is seeking a qualified, dynamic, successful and driven candidate for a newly created position of Applications Engineer.
Headquartered in Inglewood, California, the company was founded in 1999 and designs and manufactures solid-state,
high-power RF amplifier systems and modules for commercial, scientific, and military customers worldwide. Through
experience and innovation, Empower RF Systems consistently develops solutions that optimize performance and reduce
complexity for its customers. As a result, the company has established a leadership position in the growing market
for high-power broadband RF amplifiers.
Reporting to the Company’s Vice President of Business Development and Sales and partnering closely with our U.S.
and International Region Sales teams (and manufacturer’s rep network) and the Company’s Engineering team, this is
an opportunity to lead the action on technical support for key customers, business proposal and product development
definition, and solidifying key elements of our overall technical “positioning” and technical pre-sales support capabilities
in the market.
Key responsibilities and deliverables include:
Partner with sales, engineering, business development, and executive management to identify and close on power
amplifier solutions for key markets and customers. Provides sales personnel with technical support for the promotion
and positioning of existing and new products. Responsible for inputs to marketing plans, development of sales tools,
and selected, web content preparation. Provides customer feedback to improve existing products and influence development
of new products. Primary focal point for pre-sales evaluation of technical alternatives and preparation of proposal
response materials. Provides competitive analysis and performs benchmark services to assist sales in winning customer
business. Prepares and presents technical materials (and product demonstrations, as applicable) in key customer meetings,
industry events, and tradeshows. Participates in industry or trade associations as a representative of Empower RF
Systems. Accountable for business results as a key contributor in the Sales organization, and close associate of the
engineering and business development teams.
BSEE or other BS degree, or equivalent RF industry experience – highly desirable to have prior experience and requirements
knowledge from the test and measurement industry. 5 plus years experience with high power amplifier products – highly
desirable to have “hands on” experience with bench level testing and transmission systems design or deployment. Strong
communication skills (oral and written) and be able to effectively convey technical value propositions and answer/resolve
architectural issues that arise in pre-sales situations. Self motivated, competitive and entrepreneurial spirit, and
have the desire to excel in a fast paced, startup environment. Demonstrated skills and references as both a team builder
and customer advocate inside the organization.
