Long gone are the days when electronics products were assembled in the same physical location where they were designed - at least for medium to high density circuit boards. Virtually all modern consumer electronics products are assembled, tested, and packaged by companies whose primary business is volume manufacturing. They are referred to as Contract Manufacturers (CM). Many CMs have expanded their capabilities to include assistance in design optimization. Some can even help tweak integrated circuit masks for "cookie cutter" items like ESD and reverse polarity protection. Another type of CM is one who makes specialty products like filters or amplifiers and offers to design and manufacture customs versions for the customer (you). Although rare, some of those specialty companies can arrange to have your entire design manufactured.
