This story about Russia's mysterious shortwave broadcasts has appeared in QST magazine and other venues. An article on the BBC website begins by addressing the one at 4625 kHz and digresses extensively into the history of stealth, creepy transmissions and encryption. You will particularly enjoy the part about how British field intelligence agents managed to procure code pages for use in cracking the system. I have tried tuning a couple of the 'ghost' station on my el cheapo shortwave radio and can barely receive a signal. A 'real' receiver and antenna evidently pulls them in well ...
