PROJECT :
DESIGNING AND TROUBLESHOOTING OF SMPS
A switch mode power supply commonly called as SMPS is a power supply for all
electronics component in computer . Generally it acts as AC to DC converter. The SMPS
as a multiple DC source providing a variety of voltage and currents . commercially,
available SMPS is of two types,namely,AT (Advance technology) and ATX (Extended
advance technology ) .

This project primarily deals with the ATX model of the SMPS as the AT SMPS is widely
Obsolete now a days. The input to the SMPS is common to 220v AC supply and it
Provides the out put of +5v,+12v,+3.3v,0v,-5v,-12v,-3.
Electronics component used in SMPS are Resistance, Register , capacitor 100 MF
AND 200 MFD., IC TL – 494.(16 pin dip).
