Job Description:
Mav6 is seeking a Systems Engineer/Wireless Communications SME to support the Technical Analysis Group (TAG). The TAG uses modeling and simulation tools to conduct analyses of technologies developed to combat improvised explosive devices (IED). The Wireless SME will be the TAGs subject matter expert in all areas pertaining to wireless communications, including hardware, software, and protocols currently associated with commercial and military communications systems. The successful candidate will have a strong technical and operational background, be proficient in written communications and report production, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Essential Position Functions:
Provide engineering and technical expertise on matters pertaining to: Commercial 2G/2.5G/3G/4G cellular protocols, such as W-CDMA/UMTS, GSM, EDGE, and LTE, Commercial wireless networking protocols, such as 802.11 (wifi), 802.16 (WiMAX), 802.15.4 (ZigBee), and 802.15.1 (Bluetooth), Commercial wireless devices, Telecommunications infrastructure and networks, Military communications systems
Conduct analyses related to the use of commercial telecommunications devices as radio controlled IEDs (e.g. digital signal processing, link budget analysis, device modification)
Conduct assessments of technical issues pertaining to interoperability and interference issues regarding communications, electronic warfare, and other counter-IED systems
Use modeling and simulation tools to support analytical efforts
Participate and possibly lead collaborative efforts involving personnel with a broad range of areas of expertise
Produce detailed, technical reports
Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision
Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience in a related engineering discipline
Preferred Masters Degree and 10 15 years of experience in a related engineering discipline
Expertise in commercial and military communications systems
Minimum active SECRET security clearance with ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance
Preferred active TS/SCI clearance
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated experience leading small teams of specialized personnel
Familiarity with the DoDs Counter-IED mission, particularly in the area of radio-controlled IEDs, JCREW/CREW systems
Proficiency in the installation, operation and employment FM, AM, VHF, UHF, and SHF radio communication systems to transmit and receive radio messages in voice, continuous wave (CW), and burst code radio nets
Experience with a manufacturer of military or commercial communications systems
Familiarity with the DoD acquisition process
