The Senior Manufacturing Engineer, OE (EE with Microwave RF) will be a key member of a cross functional New Product Development (NPD) team from product concept to launch. The manufacturing engineering individual will be responsible for:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead manufacturing process development and validation including measurement systems in compliance with company policies and procedures including to IQ/OQ/PQ criteria
New (or existing product) sustaining, process troubleshooting and enhancement
Function as a key member of cross functional NPD team
Preparing time, cost, and quality estimates for sub-projects and executing them
Participate in team decision making
Provide leadership and direction for manufacturing and test fixture design and test
Provide direction to laboratory technicians as required
Clearly communicate in a timely manner project status, issues and project needs
Develop and execute engineering test protocols for components and devices
Actively participate in supplier selection & development
Develop and implement manufacturing instructions and technical specifications in accordance with the company’s change order system
Work with core team members towards providing process validation guidance to suppliers
Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:
Design for manufacturing of high power microwave RF amplifiers
Design of in-circuit tuning systems for automated high power microwave RF amplifiers
Design of the construction of high power microwave RF amplifier assemblies (mechanical/thermal expertise)
Design of trade offs for Microwave RF printed circuit assembly, design, properties and assembly
Properties and development of microwave RF cable assemblies
Experience in the regulatory requirements of medical devices including EMC and safety
RoHs requirements
Management of obsolete component issues
Supplier quality issue resolution
Managing and developing engineering changes in a medical manufacturing environment
Sensitivity to cultural diversity and demonstrated success in interacting with a diverse workforce
PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Works with other engineering personnel to create and develop engineering prototypes of new products/processes.
Works with RAQA and Documentation departments to establish proper regulatory and quality documentation procedures.
Works with engineering personnel on production problems and changes as necessary.
Works as a as a team member in the development of engineering designs and tests.
Supplies Purchasing Department with specifications regarding purchased parts and OEM products/processes.
Works with Safety, Health and Wellness, affected employees, and other necessary resources to ensure the highest feasible level of safety and hazard control.
Works directly with finish goods suppliers in all aspects of product/process development, release, and sustaining activities.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
5 to 7 years experience in engineering practice including product support responsibility.
Knowledge/Experience with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) processes and programs
High-powered microwave generators/transmitters a plus (1 – 10 Gigahertz)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:
Automated testing of high power microwave RF amplifiers
The processes unique to high power microwave RF amplifier assembly
Microwave RF printed circuit assembly, design, properties and assembly
RoHs requirements
Tuning of microwave RF output amplifiers
Construction and testing of microwave RF cable assemblies
Experience testing medical devices (safety etc.)
Managing and developing engineering changes in a medical manufacturing environment
Lean and Six-Sigma training/experience
Statistical Process controls
Experience working in NPD teams with R&D, Quality, purchasing and suppliers •Experience introducing new products to manufacturing
Ability to provide continuous feedback to design team with regards to device manufacturability
Experience using Change Order System and document control system •Familiarity with environmental constraints (EMI/EMC, vibration, packaging, thermal, etc.)
Ability to recognize potential problems and provide leadership in resolving them in a structured manner
Skills in personal computer spreadsheet, word processors
Ability to multi task and recognize product and process improvement opportunities •Ability to carry out engineering calculations and analysis
Ability to lead teams through complex projects
Ability to write engineering documents, test protocols, laboratory notebook entries and reports.
Ability to perform component engineering design and changes.
Ability to make oral presentations at company meetings.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external personnel
Ability to mentor junior engineers.
