TriQuint Semiconductor supplies high-performance modules and components to the world's leading communications companies. Our diverse markets include wireless handsets, base stations, broadband communications, military and foundry services. We connect the digital world to the global network.
Our advances extend throughout the wireless handset, base station, broadband, military and GaAs Foundry markets. So if your genius resides in GaAs, SAW or BAW technology, then consider the challenges of TriQuint.
Carry out technical evaluation of competitive position, analyze technology threats and perform new product system architecture analyses, supporting the strategic direction of TriQuint's front end modules for GSM, EDGE, WCDMA, HSPA, and CDMA handsets. As a member of the Strategic Systems Research (SSR) team, the successful candidate will be required to provide supporting evidence allowing the product teams to chart roadmaps aligned to the wireless handset industry's migration path to 3G LTE, CDMA2000 evolution (EVDO) and mobile WiMax. Responsibilities will include handset tear-down and benchmarking measurement of competitor's power amplifier, filter and switch components using GaAs, CMOS, SAW and BAW technologies. Attend discussions with global Service Providers in major geographic regions of the world and identify the requirements that they are giving to our handset customers, translating the information into architecture and technology requirements for TriQuint products. Define, assemble and test reference designs working with TriQuint's silicon transceiver/base band partners in support of the product teams. Utilize online subscription services such as Portelligent, attend industry association meetings and remain aligned with release standards such as 3GPP. Identify 3-5 year trends and needed capabilities. Be a contributing author to SSR internal reports. Extract key strategic conclusions and express them in a succinct format for presentation to senior management. Support MARCOMM in literature preparation, technical articles and trade shows. Significant travel is expected.
Experience:
Requires BSEE or equivalent. MSEE/MBA strongly preferred. Requires technical RF background with a minimum of 5 years design and hands-on measurement experience in PA Module/Passive components for cellular handsets or related wireless devices, and 2 years experience in wireless systems engineering. Handset design experience including silicon transceiver/base band experience is highly desirable. Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with customers, partners, service providers and TriQuint senior management. This position represents a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to enter the marketing organization but retain a high level of hands-on technical involvement.
RF/Microwave, GaAs IC and module design engineering - This work entails all aspects of the design and development of WLAN and WiMAX power amplifiers (PAs) and front-end modules (FEMs)used in portable applications.
FEM designs involve the integration of a broad suite of TriQuint's RF technologies including, GaAs HBT PAs, GaAs pHEMT PAs and switches, SAW and BAW RF filters.
The design of PAs, switches and DC bias control circuitry at the GaAs IC level will be required, as well as module level design and integration.
The primary CAD tools employed in our design process are ADS or AWR MO for circuit design and layout, Sonnet or Momentum for electromagnetic simulations and EPD/AutoCAD for module substrate layouts.
The design engineer will also perform device and circuit level characterization and diagnostics using the latest state of the art in RF/microwave test equipment.
The position will work in our New England Design Center (NEDC) located in Chelmsford, MA.
Experience:
BSEE, MSEE, RF & Microwave training
5 to 8 years experience in RF design and development
Significant experience in design & development of linear, GaAs HBT and/or pHEMT Power Amplifiers
Proficient in analysis, simulation and design using CAD tools such as ADS, AWR, Cadence, Sonnet, etc...
Hands-on testing and diagnostics related to RF measurement experience
Support sustaining engineering activities in RF Probe wafer test and Package Test areas.
Responsibilities will include troubleshooting testing problems such as oscillations, creating new test software or updating existing test software as needed, supporting new device design reviews to ensure testability of designs, creating or updating data analysis software, and interfacing with customers on a daily basis.
Provide supervision of RF production test technicians.
Support the TriQuint Quality System.
Experience:
Education: MS or BS in EE.
Background in RF on-wafer and package test (Ku & Ka band) preferred.
Experience with Agilent test equipment. Experience with Autocad. Skilled in Labview, UNIX, Basic programming.
Oracle knowledge would be beneficial.
Good communication skills required.
Work Environment: Class 10K cleanroom lab environment.
