Real-Time Link Between Optenni Lab and Anritsu ShockLine VNAs

Optenni Lab logo

Optenni Ltd. and Anritsu Corporation announce a real-time link between the Anritsu ShockLine family of Vector Network Analyzers and the Optenni Lab matching circuit optimization software. The link enables an entirely novel workflow for the antenna designer, streaming the measured impedance data from the VNA continuously to the matching circuit synthesis of Optenni Lab.

Real-Time Link Between Optenni Lab and Anritsu ShockLine VNAs - RF Cafe

This novel workflow opens up new horizons for the design process, as the effect of physical modifications and tuning of an antenna prototype can immediately be seen in the simulated total performance of the antenna through a synthesized matching circuit. In a similar way, the link allows the designer to monitor the simulated total antenna performance when the antenna is used under various operation conditions and physical environments, for example next to user's hand and head.

"This is the first time we see such a natural bridge between measurements and simulations. The novel design process fades the boundary between the hardware and software domains, as one can consider Optenni Lab as a user interface for Anritsu VNA measurements and Optenni Lab's matching circuit synthesis at the same time", commented Dr. Jussi Rahola, founder and CEO of Optenni Ltd.

"We see Optenni Lab as a key software component in the antenna design process. With the new link to Anritsu products, customers can adopt far more efficient workflows than before", said Mr. Konynenberg Aart, Vice President, Marketing, Network Infrastructure Business Unit & Emerging Business Unit. "Especially the new ultra-compact ShockLine 1-port USB VNA MS46121A (4 GHz and 6 GHz options) and Optenni Lab provide together an amazing platform for antenna design, something that has never been seen before. We are pleased to partner with Optenni Ltd. to support this new way of designing antennas."

Availability

The link between Anritsu VNAs and Optenni Lab is available in Optenni Lab 3.2, to be released in October.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
