Chelmsford, MA, November 15, 2010 - Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has introduced three new SMT packaged MMIC Phase Shifters which are ideal for sensor and subsystem applications in fiber optic, military, test, and industrial/medical equipment from 1.2 to 8 GHz.

The HMC928LP5E and HMC929LP4E are MMIC Analog Phase Shifters which are rated from 2 to 4 GHz and from 4 to 8 GHz, respectively. Each of these fully integrated Analog Phase Shifter products provide continuous phase shift of up to 450 degrees, and accept an analog control voltage from 0 to 13 V. The HMC928LP5E and HMC929LP4E exhibit consistently low insertion loss of 3.5 to 4 dB, with excellent phase accuracy of +/- 5 degrees across the band. The HMC928LP5E is housed in a leadless QFN 5 x 5 mm SMT package, while the HMC929LP4E is housed in a leadless QFN 4 x 4 mm SMT package.

Also released is the HMC936LP6E 6-bit Digital Phase Shifter which is rated from 1.2 to 1.4 GHz, and provides 360 degrees of phase coverage in steps of 5.625 degrees. The HMC936LP6E features very low RMS phase error of 1.2 degrees and extremely low insertion loss variation of ±0.5 dB across all phase states. This digitally controlled phase shifter accepts positive control logic of 0 / +5 V, requires no negative supply voltage, and is internally matched to 50 Ohms with no external components. The HMC936LP6E is housed in a leadless QFN 6 x 6 mm SMT package.

The HMC928LP5E, HMC929LP4E and the HMC936LP6E MMIC Phase Shifters are ideal for adjusting the phase of clocks in fiber optic systems and test equipment, and in antenna beam-shaping and signal cancellation circuits.
Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company’s e-commerce site or via direct purchase order. Released data sheets are available on-line at www.hittite.com.
