INGLEWOOD, CA, December 1, 2009 (Business Wire) -- Empower RF Systems, a leading manufacturer and global provider of solid state power amplifiers and amplifier based solutions celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Company and also announced the appointment of Barry Phelps as CEO, effective October 1, 2009. Entrepreneur and founder of Empower, Efraim (Effi) Bainvoll, is President of the Company and will be leading projects focused on nurturing strong, existing technologies and creating new PA solutions for evolving systems requirements.

“I am both proud and humble to see the success that we have achieved since launching the company in 1999”, said Bainvoll. “Our customers have given us tremendous opportunities to be of service and we continue to work hard to earn their business. With the opening of our New York Design Center earlier this year, investments in technical talent in California, and the addition of a CEO with considerable management experience guiding technology companies, we are well positioned for the future.”

Empower’s new CEO, Barry Phelps, has been an Empower Board member since 2007. Barry started his career with the Burroughs Corporation and more recent, executive roles with technology companies include Division President at Spirent Communications, President and CEO of Netcom Systems, and Chairman and CEO of MICOM Communications. Barry also serves on the Board of Directors at St Lawrence University, Breaking Point Systems in Austin, Texas, and US Auto Parts in Carson, California.

“I have had the pleasure of working closely with Effi since 2007 as a Board member and now, more directly, in planning and executing this transition”, said Barry. “I am excited about building on our ten year history and leading the company into the future. There is a great opportunity for us in addressing requirements for today’s fast evolving and complex systems that put heavy demands on the amplifier function. We are committed to providing outstanding service and support to our customers”
