RFHIC Introduces High Efficiency Medical Treatment Amplifiers for Hyperthermia Treatment or RF Ablation
Applications
Up to 55% efficiency on AB class amplification
Suwon,
Korea (July 27, 2009) – RFHIC Corporation, manufacturer of active RF & MW components and hybrids for
wireless telecommunication markets, released Hyperthermia treatment or RF ablation purpose RF amplifier. This
pallet amplifier uses GaN-on-SiC technology which is very robust against back power or other damages, and reduces
the need for maintenance.
Early
stages of a cancer treatment often use this effective RF technology to treat patients. This highly efficient power
amplifier use 2.3~2.5GHz frequency, and has a 200W output power, and three stage amplifier design totaling 31dB
gain. Final stage amplifier has 55% efficiency when operated at AB class amplification. When using the power
amplifier on an E-class amplification, the efficiency reaches 90% efficiency.
Above photo shows the 250mm
x 120mm x 30mm size of the amplifier with isolator and low pass filter (LPF). Higher power can be achieved by
combining multiple pallet amplifiers. Fan inclusive designs are available as well.
“Much has been said on
cancer treatment by RF technology, and many research results show hard evidence that this actually works and is
better than traditional medical surgery. Recent post from Samsung Medical Center(SMC) comments that Radiofrequency
ablation, or RFA, treatment has proved to be the most effective and the safest approach to destroying inoperable
early-stage tumors in the liver. RFHIC is proud to support such an industry with high performance RF amplifiers”
said Mr. Kevin Kim, Senior International Sales Manager, RFHIC Corporation.
Samsung Medical Center(SMC) announced that the RFA treatment team has demonstrated a remarkable success rate
across 3,600 cases of liver cancer patients for the ten years from April 1999 to April 2009. The team performed
RFA treatment 3,594 times on 2,600 patients over a 10-year period.
RFMA245 is available in sample quantity immediately. Other higher output, or custom medical amplifier designs
are available from RFHIC as well. For additional information regarding RFHIC’s products, visit www.rfhic.com or

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
