Azimuth Systems Press Release - July 28, 2009

Azimuth Systems Marks the First Half of 2009 with Record Growth and Expansion into the MIMO and Cellular Markets

Leading Provider of Wireless Broadband Test Equipment and Channel Emulators Achieves Gains in Revenue, Customer Base and International Presence in 2009

ACTON, MA – July 28, 2009 – Azimuth Systems, Inc., a leading provider of wireless broadband test equipment and channel emulators, today announced that it has achieved record growth and expansion in 2009 thus far, setting the foundation for a record-breaking year for the company. At the heart of this growth is the company’s continued momentum in the LTE, WiMAX and 2G/3G markets, which is largely due to the release of Azimuth’s third-generation MIMO channel emulator, the ACE™ MX. As of mid year, Azimuth has experienced a 50% revenue growth for channel emulators as compared to the first half of 2008, and dramatically expanded its customer base and international presence with the addition of key LTE and 2G/3G customers and partners worldwide.

During its profitable first half of 2009, Azimuth expanded sales of channel emulator systems for LTE and 2G/3G testing to wireless semiconductor, infrastructure and mobile equipment vendors, and service provider companies, including four of the leading multinational base station vendors. The company also expanded operations in Europe, as well as expanded its international channels with the introduction of new distributors including EHS Electronic Systems GmbH, which will be distributing Azimuth’s products in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and RDT Equipment and Systems, Israel’s leading supplier of best of breed professional test solutions and support services. In addition, Azimuth further expanded its distribution channel in China with the addition of Barbus Technology, a provider of first-class distribution services for wired and wireless telecom test equipment and test solutions.

Azimuth has continued to strengthen the company’s active presence in the wireless industry. In early 2009, Azimuth announced it had joined LSTI (Long Term Evolution/System Architecture Evolution Trial Initiative) a global, collaborative technology trial initiative focused on accelerating the availability of commercial and interoperable next generation LTE mobile broadband systems. Additionally, Azimuth participated in the year’s three leading international wireless industry trade events in Europe, US and Asia – Mobile World Congress in February, CTIA Wireless 2009 in April, and CommunicAsia 2009 in June.

“We’re extremely pleased that despite the challenging economic climate, Azimuth has experienced record growth and sustained profitability in the first half of 2009,” said Jim Iuliano, president and CEO of Azimuth Systems. “Azimuth has distinguished itself as a leader in the field of MIMO communications testing as evidenced by the success of our newest platform, the ACE MX. Our continued expansion is a testament to Azimuth’s ability to anticipate market needs and create high quality products to meet our customers’ demands in a changing market. We look forward to further market share expansion in the second half of 2009 and into 2010 as Azimuth continues to add new, exciting features to its marketing-leading ACE MX channel emulator. ”

Supporting all industry-standard bands and channel models for LTE, WiMAX, 2G/3G cellular and Wi-Fi, the ACE MX is renowned for its superior ease-of-use and a host of enhanced features that support advanced channel modeling and propagation conditions. The purpose-built, enhanced testing solution was architected to meet the demanding needs of the emerging generation of LTE and WiMAX systems, which employ MIMO and OFDM technologies, as well as the backwards-compatible channel emulation features required to test 2G/3G cellular products.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
