Azimuth Systems to Showcase Voice Over Wi-Fi Test Platform at Symbian
SmartPhone Show
Automated Tests Enable the Verification of Voice Quality, Roaming
Performance and Data Range of VoWi-Fi Handsets
ACTON, MA – October 21, 2008 – Azimuth Systems, Inc., a leading
provider of wireless broadband test equipment and channel emulators
for Wi-Fi, WiMAX, LTE and 2G/3G cellular technologies, today announced
that the company will be showcasing its advanced Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi)
testing capabilities at the 10th annual Symbian Smartphone Show taking
place in London from October 21-22, 2008.
Azimuth’s sophisticated
VoWi-Fi test platform enables service providers, handset manufacturers
and semiconductor vendors to perform accurate and repeatable voice quality,
data range and roaming performance testing of VoWi-Fi handsets.
The suite runs on Azimuth’s award-winning W-Series test platform and
includes a set of comprehensive automated test scripts that simplify
configuration and provide the flexibility to support a broad range of
devices and scenarios. The VoWi-Fi Handset Test Suite can be used
to conduct handset range tests designed to evaluate voice quality as
the distance between a handset and access point increases, handset roaming
performance tests to measure roaming time and analyze protocol behavior
as a handset roams between access points and handset data range testing
that allows for the measurement of throughput.
“As handset manufacturers
worldwide continue to embrace the use of Wi-Fi technology in smartphones,
Azimuth has enjoyed tremendous success with its VoWi-Fi testing platform
as it enables our customers to perform advanced handset tests that were
previously difficult─ or even impossible,” said George Reed, vice president
of marketing and product management at Azimuth Systems. “The ability
to reduce the testing process from weeks to days to hours has also helped
manufacturers to dramatically streamline the testing of VoWi-Fi phones,
improving product quality and time-to-market delivery.”

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
