The award, sponsored by Electronique Magazine, the French electronic industry's leading publication, recognizes products in 12 award categories. The winner in each category is chosen by an independent jury of experts in the electronics industry and selected from products released in the previous 12 months.

It was developed specifically for three-dimensional (3D) planar applications such as RF printed circuit boards and modules, as well as Low-Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic, (LTCC), Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit (MMIC), and Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) designs.
