RFMD Extends Leadership In Power Amplifiers as Shipments of
Transmit Modules Commence to Multiple Handset Manufacturers

Content In Wireless Handsets
GREENSBORO, N.C. – OCTOBER 4, 2005 – RF Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:
RFMD), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated
circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, today
announced it has extended its leadership in power amplifiers as
the Company has commenced shipments of highly integrated transmit
modules to multiple handset manufacturers. Transmit modules are
comprised of RFMD’s industry-leading power amplifiers with integrated
pHEMT switch technology.
Eric Creviston, corporate vice
president of cellular products for RF Micro Devices, said, “Our
expansion into the market for transmit modules underscores our ability
to increase our content within handsets by providing our customers
with more highly integrated, value-added RF solutions. RFMD is currently
forecasting an aggressive ramp of our highly integrated quad-band
transmit modules in support of multiple handset manufacturers. In

in RFMD’s history. Given current forecasts, we expect market leadership
in transmit modules by the end of calendar year 2006.” RFMD’s
