1857: Timothy Alder was awarded a patent for the typesetting machine. 1928: Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in the mold Penicillium notatum. 1940: The German Luftwaffe suffered the loss of 176 planes in the Battle of Britain. 1941: AMP incorporated as Aircraft Marine Products (how  many people know that?). 1964: the London's Sun newspaper debuted. 1965: "Lost in Space" premiered. 1978: German aircraft engineer Willy Messerschmitt died. 1982: The first issue of "USA Today" published. 2001: President George W. Bush identified Osama bin Laden as the prime suspect in the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
