1867: Joseph Lister in Glasgow, Scotland, became the first surgeon to perform surgery under antiseptic conditions. 1903: Ford Motor Company was incorporated, and its ten employees began producing the company's first car, the Model A. 1911: Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (C-T-R), the precursor to International Business Machines (IBM), was incorporated. 1930: Elmer Sperry, inventor of the gyrocompass, died. 1963: Lt.
