Edison's Incandescent Bulb Patented - Please click here to visit RF Cafe.

1880: Thomas Edison received a patent for his incandescent electric lamp. 1932: U.S. Bureau of Standards scientist Louis Austin, who pioneered long-range radio broadcasts, died. 1943: During World War II, the first all American air raid against Germany took place when about 50 bombers attacked Wilhelmshaven. 1967: A fire engulfed the Apollo 1 spacecraft during a launch pad test, killing its crew of three. 1981: U.S. President Reagan greeted the 52 former American hostages released by Iran at the White House. 1989: Sir Thomas Sopwith, of Camel biplane and triplane fame, died. 1996: France conducted an open-air nuclear test in the South Pacific.
