thought or  Oak ID Just in case you ever find yourself trying to determine whether the piece of oak board you have is red oak or white oak, here's a little trick that works every time. Take a short, straight-grained length of the wood, stick one end in a glass of water, and blow into the other end like a straw. If bubbles form in the water, you've got red oak. | ||||||
