Look Deep into My Eyes

Fingerprint and retina scanners are the security measures of choice by spy movie producers and even the U.S. government, but in South Korea and Japan, vein recognition is the preferred method. The system is widely used in Asia for cultural reasons, since hygiene is a prime concern there. No contact with the vein recognition scanner is required since it uses an infrared beam to map veins on the back of the hand. Fingerprint and retina scanners require the scanee to physically touch the device. Vein recognition will start appearing in North America later in 2004.
