Essential Functions: The Radar Field Engineer (RFE) must be able to collaborate as a contributing engineering team member providing technical expertise and innovation to engineering staff in the development and sustainment of capabilities and technologies. Specifically, the RFE plays an active role throughout the capability development life-cycle by supporting the development, assembly, integration and performance characterization of components, sub-systems and systems. Additionally, the RFE acts as Technical Liaison between Development Engineering and Operations Teams during the transition of capability insertion into operations by developing documentation and providing both formal and informal training. The RFE follows capability beyond initial operating capability and supports active Test Programs to ensure Operations understands proper setup, alignment, and troubleshooting processes and procedures.

General Duties: Provide System-of-System (SoS) and Family-of-Systems (FoS) expertise to Test IPTs, Development IPTs and Test Operations during the entire capability life-cycle. Duties include:

  • Support and mentor NRTF Systems Engineering (SE) processes and practices.
  • Support Development Engineering from requirements capture and analysis through capability insertion.
  • Conduct product research, procurement, testing and assessment.
  • Develop and test prototype solutions.
  • Lead small/medium design and development efforts.
  • Support Development Engineering and Test Operations as the technical liaison during capability integration and testing on the path to IOC and FOC.
  • Support Test Engineering during provisioning and conduct to insure proper SoS setup and operation.
  • Support operations in the application of troubleshooting procedures on all SoS and FoS.
  • Develop and present specific technology technical training to Engineering Technicians.
  • Develop and present non- specific technology technical training to Engineering Technicians. 

Other Duties: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.

Education / Experience Requirements: Associates degree in a technical field (Electrical Engineering, computer Science, Mathematics) and/or 5-8 years of experience with RF, controls, and digital technologies, as well as, trouble shooting. Incumbent must have knowledge of MS Office Suite products. Knowledge in the following areas is also required: time domain and frequency domain test equipment and test models; RCS metrology; and radar constituent technologies and components.

Other Requirements: This position requires a Top Secret security clearance. Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Must possess a valid drivers’ license. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies. Supports Process Improvement.

Work Environment: Duties are normally performed in an office environment.

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of regularly climbing extension ladders, tower ladders, stepladders and stairs. Requires bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and walking extensively on a regular basis.
