Because of the high maintenance needed to monitor and filter spammers from the RF Cafe Forums, I decided that it would
be best to just archive the pages to make all the good information posted in the past available for review. It is unfortunate
that the scumbags of the world ruin an otherwise useful venue for people wanting to exchanged useful ideas and views.

I'm not real familiar with DSO sampling requiements. The scope manufacturer guidelines seem to suggest a BW at least 4x the highest frequency to be measured, so than means around 2 GHz. That's a pretty expensive DSO.
Can I mix the sampled RF down first either to baseband or some IF and expect to get a good representation of the original signal? Of course that would mean making sure the conversion was done properly, but are there any good reasons to go ahead and sheel out the dinaros for an expensive scope vs. downsampling and using a less expensive scope? Thanks.

National makes some nice digitizers that give you resonable Spectral Analysis results.
