Recently, I have been getting a lot of contacts by recruiters who ignore my statement
that says only companies actually hiring engineers, managers and technicians are welcome to publicize
their available positions. They all claim to be the exception to the general recruiter reputation stigma
and attempt to convince me that they should be allowed to post. Of course, the fact that they contact me
after I give a clear reason for why not to contact me is an indication of the nature of the beast.
The analogy would be a salesman who sees a "No
Solicitors" sign on the door, and then walks in to explain to the proprietor why he (or she) is a
different kind of solicitor than the one implied on the sign.
Just this morning, a recruiter
sent me an e-mail requesting such an exception. I wrote back reiterating my clear comments on the
website. She then proceeded to call me to help me understand how wrong I was. This phone call went on
for probably 15 minutes, and she would not give up. I finally told her she was just wasting my time, so
she came up with the playground retort of, "well you're just wasting my time." Who called whom after
being told not to bother?
That is all the evidence I need to confirm my reason for not inviting
recruiters onto RF Cafe. They treat engineers, managers, and technicians the same way.
