trace length to Antenna feed point - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in late 2012 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2012, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Regardless, there are still lots of great posts in the archive that ware worth looking at. Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts. Is the trace length between 50ohm balun and a 50 ohm ceramic patch antenna @2.4GHz critical? The design is CPW Ground with Width = Gap=0.2mm.

Providing I maintain the 50ohm trace in between, does the actual trace lengths matters? Should I avoid 0.25Wavelengths?

Thanks

If the whole thing were lossless and perfectly matched then it doesnt matter. We know this is not going to be true and you have two problems:-

1. Losses on the trace which will increase with length

2. Radiation from / Susceptibility of trace

Suck it and see
