Vehicle power supply transients - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in late 2012 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2012, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Regardless, there are still lots of great posts in the archive that ware worth looking at. Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts. Post subject: Vehicle power supply transients

I want to do some testing of a bit of kit destined to be powered from a vehicle supply. If its possible I would like to do this with home-brew test rigs. Any suggestions of where there may be some detail of how to build your own kit to do this ?

After some research I find that ISO 7637 transient immunity testing is mentioned quite a lot. I can find reasonable detail on voltage amplitudes but not much of duration of transients and other information that might make your own testing to this spec possible

Any suggestions (Apart from sending the kit to a test house!)
