Synchronous Oscillator - RF Cafe Forums

Because of the high maintenance needed to monitor and filter spammers from the RF Cafe Forums, I decided that it would be best to just archive the pages to make all the good information posted in the past available for review. It is unfortunate that the scumbags of the world ruin an otherwise useful venue for people wanting to exchanged useful ideas and views. It seems that the more formal social media like Facebook pretty much dominate this kind of venue anymore anyway, so if you would like to post something on RF Cafe's Facebook page, please do.

Below are all of the forum threads, including all the responses to the original posts.

I am trying to find information regarding the design of a synchronous oscillator. Can anyone guide me to a source that I can use?

Thank You

In what sense do you want the oscillator to be synchronous?

If it is to synchronize in an averaging sense to a reference frequency, the classic method is a Phase Locked Loop approach.

Another meaning is that an oscillator allways starts in a particular state eg rising slope of voltage, so it is synchronous in a Phase sense. There have been designs published in Designers' case Book (or Electronics Magazine?) over the pasr few years for this application. I believe a website has been set up indexing all of their published circuit notes.

I was interrupted half way thru by colleagues demanding I buy them coffee.

Anyways, the website I was thinking of is
www.discovercircuits.com

There is a search engine. Just search under "synchronous oscillator"
