Because of the high maintenance needed to monitor and filter spammers from the RF Cafe Forums, I decided that it would
be best to just archive the pages to make all the good information posted in the past available for review. It is unfortunate
that the scumbags of the world ruin an otherwise useful venue for people wanting to exchanged useful ideas and views.
It seems that the more formal social media like Facebook pretty much dominate this kind of venue anymore anyway, so if

Hi gurus, Is there some resource on the web I can use to learn more about
the RF development flow? Basically I'm interested in knowing more about system level analysis using excel or some
kind of simulation tools without getting too detailed into the circuit matching and layout. Is there any future in
doing this? My background is in DSP and wireless communications simulation. Thanks.

The process of designing an RF system usually starts with a
concept of the system. Once you have a clear concept, then you continue with a block diagram. Each of the building
blocks have its own RF parameters like: Gain, Noise Figure (NF), 3rd Order Intercept Point (IP3) etc. You cascade
the building blocks and assign to each of them its respective RF parameters. Then you can use an EXCEL sheet and
calculate the cascaded or composite result for each of these parameters like Cascaded Gain, Cascaded IP3 etc.
As mentioned, this can be done by EXCEL or by another RF tool like Syscalc etc. This tools contain the Friis
formulas for cascading IP3 and NF.
