Because of the high maintenance needed to monitor and filter spammers from the RF Cafe Forums, I decided that it would
be best to just archive the pages to make all the good information posted in the past available for review. It is unfortunate
that the scumbags of the world ruin an otherwise useful venue for people wanting to exchanged useful ideas and views.
It seems that the more formal social media like Facebook pretty much dominate this kind of venue anymore anyway, so if
you would like to post something on RF Cafe's
Facebook page, please do.
Below are all of the forum threads, including all
the responses to the original posts.
WavelengthMan Post subject: RF Input Impedance Software Unread postPosted: Mon Mar 28, 2005 6:58 pm
RF Cafe Forums, I am doing R & D development work on some projects and need the following ---
What do any of you have or know about in software that would take any combination of passive circuit elements such as R L C (in any combinations - series/parallel etc.) including several BALANCED transmission lines of any length & Zo (lossy and lossless) connected in various combinations to produce a desired effect over RF frequency ranges. Basically - the immediate circuit project requires a desired input impedance characteristics and with careful planning ball park - try the potential circuit in a computer software simulation mode to see if the component selections are working as desired.
If the software exists - I would assume that it would be able to calculate the currents/voltages/phase at any node in the complex circuit with a given voltage input to the circuit.

Hello, Try Agilent ADS, I think it will do the job.

ADS is fine if you have $80K laying around. If the circuits are not larger than 25 components , then ANSOFT Serenade student version is free and will also, do the job. If the project will not last more than 30 days, then Microwave Office will allow you to evaluate a full version for free. Finally, Eagleware, Genesis is ~4K, but they have another version that will do the job for you that is 1K. ADS, for now is the leader, but they are quickly loosing ground to Microwace Office in the IC platforms and Eagleware in the RF platforms.
