Guest Post subject: Challenges facing microwave filter engineers
Posted: Thu Jan 05, 2006 9:04 am I would really appreciate some
insight from the members of this group on the major challenges to be
overcome by microwave filter engineers in the future. To some extend
I realise that this depends on the intended application. Some of forces
presently driving development include: 1) miniaturisation, 2) simplification
of design rules, manufacture and circuit layout, 3) improved rate of
cut-off and 4) reduced insertion loss. Can anyone add to this list or
provide information about the challenges which apply in certain specific
applications. Thanks James Top Guest

I'd add: 1. Passband VSWR control/Passband ripple 2. Repeatability
in manufacturing 3. Simplified tuning in manufacturing 4. Phase
linearity 5. Spurious responses Top Guest
