Best Zigbee Devices - RF Cafe Forums

Because of the high maintenance needed to monitor and filter spammers from the RF Cafe Forums, I decided that it would be best to just archive the pages to make all the good information posted in the past available for review. It is unfortunate that the scumbags of the world ruin an otherwise useful venue for people wanting to exchanged useful ideas and views. It seems that the more formal social media like Facebook pretty much dominate this kind of venue anymore anyway, so if you would like to post something on RF Cafe's Facebook page, please do.

Below are all of the forum threads, including all the responses to the original posts.

Our companies ended up with three best choices by comparing the datasheets and use of avaialble Zigbee devices (listed without particular
ranking):
Ember EM250/EM260
Freescale MC1321X/MC1320X
UBEC UZ2500/UZ2400

Do you have similar experience?

Regards

I am writing SW for Ember EM250 and interested in exchanging experience with other.
I really like the 16b XAP2 microcontroller that is embedded on the EM250.

Have done some work with the Freescale MC13192/3. Good range. Easiest transceiver I ever took through a FCC test. Seperate TX and RX ports allows you to consider adding a PA or LNA. However, the Freescale HCS08 processors have clumsy sleep modes requiring external wake-ups. The single chip MC13121X seems to be just putting the MC13192/3 and HCS08 together without addressing the shortcommings of the processor.

Datasheets on the Ember EM250/EM260 look interesting. Does the sleep timer work as indicated? Does the device retain RAM while sleeping?

Probably the best device in silicon!!!

I was very skeptical to the XAP2, but now that I've started using it, I really like it.
Ember has also built some great and cheap tools to support it. For my home automation application, we get use for a 16b uC. I am skeptical
about 8b uC for Zigbee, man.

EM250=Best Zigbee SoC !!!

Ember EM250 can also be used as a MIMO system due to its excellent dual rf interface.
You get 7db better sensitivity, assumingly. We are talking about better than -100dBm sensitivity, guys.

Could you share how you set up the radio registers of the EM250 to
do this? I've spent hours and still have some problems with a similar
MIMI mode. Thanx.

Hey guys,

I've been trying to work with Ember developer kit (EM250) but i'm not able to do the communication between sensors and sick. I don't know how I could save my program in them. Can you help me?

Thanks a lot.
