patch antenna width - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in late 2012 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2012, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Regardless, there are still lots of great posts in the archive that ware worth looking at. Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts. I am desiging uhf patch antenna, I got little freedom about the width of antenna ( less then 2cm), I cant use more than that. I can change my lenth. Is there anyway i can design this antenna with limited freedom on width.

According to my knowledge if we decrease the width input resistance of antenna increases. can we use matching networks?, what type of networks we can use.

resonant frequency is 915 MHz.

thanks

Hi , Dear vamsi,

you hadn't said anything about the high of your substrate. if you have any limitation on it?

three important parameters that effect to the input impedace of microstrip antennas, are the thickness of substrate , it's relative permittivity and width of strip.

if you have limitation on one of them, you can use two others to implement your design.

I hope , it'll be helpful
