Because of the high maintenance needed to monitor and filter spammers from the RF Cafe Forums, I decided that it would be best to just archive the pages to make all the good information posted in the past available for review. It is unfortunate that the scumbags of the world ruin an otherwise useful venue for people wanting to exchanged useful ideas and views. It seems that the more formal social media like Facebook pretty much dominate this kind of venue anymore anyway, so if you would like to post something on RF Cafe's Facebook page, please do.

Is this http://www.scientificblogging.com/news_account/stealth_antenna_made_of_gas_impervious_to_jamming actually of any use?

The guys that came up with it say it is "impervious to jamming" ; huh? what-the-heck ?

This antenna is for the battlefield? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just aim searchlights onto your existing antennas and paint them bright colors?

I assume the antenna will work. The ionized gas in the fluorescent lamp should work just like a fat wire.

But WHY? Can this actually have some real application other than an educational demonstration?

Hi wb9jtk,

I took look at the article given by your web link, in my opinion, it may be used for some special applications such as transformable antennae. As we know, there must be certain trade-off to implement a wideband or multiband antenna due to the fact that the most antenna structures are not adaptive to the frequency variety. So if this kind of antenna can be implemented in a flexible pipe which form is driven by signal, it may be a candidate of adaptive antenna.

It is what I imagined.
