How to set PML and see antenna far field pattern in HFSS - RF Cafe
Because of the high maintenance needed to monitor and filter spammers from the RF Cafe Forums, I decided that it would
be best to just archive the pages to make all the good information posted in the past available for review. It is unfortunate
that the scumbags of the world ruin an otherwise useful venue for people wanting to exchanged useful ideas and views.
It seems that the more formal social media like Facebook pretty much dominate this kind of venue anymore anyway, so if
you would like to post something on RF Cafe's
page, please do.

Post subject: How to set PML and see antenna far field pattern in HFSS

Hi, all, I am trying to set PML for my antenna,
but I am not familiar with it. I used radiation
boudary before and now I want to see if there is
big difference using PML boundary.
I drew a vaccum
box surrounding the antenna with distance about
lemda/4 from antenna. After simulation, HFSS cannot
let me see the far field pattern because it says
I don't make a face list. I wondered if I should
also draw another radiation boudary surrounding
the PML the so that I can see the far field pattern.
Another question is if the PML surrounds the antenna,
we cannot use wave port. Only lumped port can be
used? Who can give me some help?
Thanks a lot.
